The Best of 2016 Skincare, Makeup, Body and Hair Products

2016 flew past me in a blaze of disappointing moments.  Personally, the year sucked. However, in terms of beauty I discovered some AMAZING products I’ve absolutely fallen in love with. Not to mention some incredible tech and lifestyle items.

Skincare

I have had the worst year of skin in my life. I’ve suffered from painful, red, inflamed acne. In spite of that, I’ve really discovered some incredible products and treatments.

To battle my skin concerns I’ve been seeking treatment at Brazilian Beauty in Clayfield (Brisbane). For all my acne suffering girls, their acid peels and LED light treatments have helped my skin so much. In the few weeks after each treatment (I’ve had five this year) my skin has been clear, smooth and radiant. These treatments have also helped to clear up my acne scarring a little bit.

In terms of product I changed my Clarisonic Mia 2 brush head from sensitive to the luxe head. Its incredible soft and less damaging on my skin. I’ve started using it almost every day without damage to my skin and have noticed it certainly being clearer in smoother.

The final product I’d like to talk about its the Origins Skin Rose Clay Mask. This mask was a new product release in 2016 and quickly become well known in the beauty community. I like to leave it on for roughly 15 minutes. After removing it any acne, black heads and white little pimple bumps are absolutely destroyed. It leaves my skin so soft and I always use it after and before a big night.

Makeup

There are only four products in terms of makeup I’d like to talk about today. Firstly, the Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation. It has quickly become my holy grail foundation and I’m looking forward to a lifelong relationship with this product and  I am soon to buy a second bottle for when I fake tan (more on that later though). In combination with the All Nighter Foundation, I’ve also fallen in love with the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer. The two make the perfect flawless base for all future products.

The only  other products I have truly fallen in love with are the Chi Chi Fibre Brow Gel and Pomade. These are exact dupes (albeit cheaper at $20 and $15 respectively) for the Benefit Gimme Brow and Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade. I have used both of these products this year and can honestly say that Chi Chi’s offerings exceed expectations and perform better than the alternate high end options.

Unfortunately this year I am yet to find anything else I can say I love. I have found good products (the Nyx Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks, Becca Moonstone Shimmering Skin Perfector and Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer) but none that will be joining me again once I have finished the product.

Hair

Since bleaching my hair to go blonde again I have enjoyed the wonders of the ‘ranga’ (Australian slang for ginger hair) stage of hair. I’m yet to go for another lightening session but I will soon and look forward to it. In the mean time however I have been solely relying on the Fudge Clean Blonde Shampoo to keep my hair from turning to an orange mess. Using it every second day has actually taken my hair to a cool, yet dark blonde. I won’t be putting this down anytime soon even once I get to platinum tresses.

Body

My final love of 2016 joined me in the years last days. The Bondi Sands Dark Tanning Foam  was something I fell in love with the second it touched my skin. Previously, I religiously used the Bondi Sands Light Tanning Foam by applying two coats and washing it off after sleeping in it overnight. However, it can turn out patchy and orange. With the Dark Tanning Foam I have no such issue. However, I do recommend not applying with the Bondi Sands Tanning Mitt as it leaves the tan patchy.

So these are the products I have loved in 2016. Whilst they aren’t much, they are the best of the best.

Wishing you all a happy new year,

Clary
